ASF Presents "Sing Out Broadway!"

Jose Mari Chan, one of the featured artists

Ateneo-bred scholars have long gone on to become the pride of our Filipino nation. The Ateneo Scholarship Foundation (ASF), a non-profit, non-stock organization since 1974, participates in this tradition through its mission of providing for financially challenged but bright-minded students of the Ateneo de Manila University.

This 2013, the ASF is once again celebrating tradition by means of a special fundraising concert dubbed, “Sing Out Broadway!” on June 22, Saturday at 8pm and on June 23, Sunday at 7pm. It will be held at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater, Ateneo de Manila University campus, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. The concert will feature a group of professional Filipino performing artists who have graced both the Philippine and international theatre stage namely, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Sheila Valderama-Martinez, Lorenz Martinez and OJ Mariano. It will also include the special participation of singing veterans Jose Mari Chan and Janet Basco. Their repertoire will consist mostly of old to new Broadway musical pieces, Disney classics, some standards and pop songs.

Proceeds from the sponsorships and sales of tickets of the “Sing Out Broadway!” concert will go to the Ateneo College Scholarship Program.

Dormitory Naming Rights Project

Dormitory facilities for Ateneo students date back to the time of Jose Rizal in Intramuros. In the Loyola Heights campus, the first dormitory - Bellarmine Hall - was opened in the mid-1950s. This was followed by Cervini Hall in 1965. Because of lack of space, the second and third floors in the east wing of the Blue Eagle Gym were also used as dorm facilities from 1966-67.
